The Q Loop (2011-2012)

Q-Loop is an example of a multi-media art project exploring how the artist community activates and intersects with cultural shifts which, in turn, influence economic and political trends. Due in large part to technology, social media and gentrification of American imagination, we live in a world where we, as individuals, are both increasingly connected to and isolated from each other. This cultural action research project took place in different geographies of NYC just after the financial crash of 2008 and used ethnographic techniques and art to understand how individuals not only survive but thrive outside of what some consider mainstream, normative society and within an geographic area gripped by serial gentrification practices at all levels of the social ecological model.
